Why Jesus? PDF Print E-mail

To answer "why Jesus", all you have to do is ask any born again believer. The answers are always different, individual, but always the same. The answers are always about love, forgiveness, the joy and true happiness which were only found once they gave their lives to Jesus. Some have tried to explain that with statements like; "let go and let Jesus", others say "I have died to Christ". The truth is there really are no words that can describe this. Trying to describe that would be as impossible as describing how you felt when the doctor hands you your first child just after they entered the world, to truly understand it you have to experience it.

Is there a God, yes there is; just as surely as a mother loves her children. Is there an enemy (devil), yes there is; just as surely as there is somebody who would hurt or steal from you. It is really that simple and that evident. One harms and one loves! One wants only the best for you and one deceives you and brings despair, unhappiness, and ruin to your life. It is like two paths, one takes you home, and one leads you off into a cold dark wilderness to parish. A more accurate description would be one path home with innumerable and constant wrong paths to choose from. Jesus was given to us to light our path so we can know the way home.

Sin is a vague word, which is used often and with little thought. Sin is simply anything which is contrary (opposite of) the true nature of God (agape or pure and unselfish love). When our actions and possibly even our thoughts are not in alignment with God that is considered sin. If it is not of love then it is hurtful both to others and ultimately ourselves. We have been given free will, the ability to make our own decisions. When these decisions result in sin it separates us from God. When sin affects other people justice is required, a wrong needs to be righted. Prior to Jesus an eye for an eye was prescribed. Jesus brought in a new way to allow for justice and reunite us with God.

Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for us. He gave his life, willingly, on the cross as a way to bring the justice required because of our sins. In other words by his giving his life up, he paid the price for our sins so that we could find our way home – back to God. His sacrifice was a gift to us and as a gift we have the ability to either accept it our refuse it. If we decide to accept it there are two things required; first, we have to believe that Jesus is the way, the light, the son of God, given for us to allow us a way back to God and out of our sins. Second, we have to accept the gift. Simply believing that Jesus is the son of God and our savior is not enough. The real power is in actually accepting the gift, and this is as simple as praying and thanking God for his love and mercy, asking for forgiveness for our sins (the things we have done wrong), and giving your life to Jesus as he gave his for us. This only requires a humble and sincere heart and you actually allowing Jesus to take control of your life and guide you. If you have never prayed and asked Jesus into your life, please don’t wait, he loves you and wants to help, let him – just pray!
